Chemical stability and functionality of Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> artificial solid electrolyte interphases on alkali metals under open circuit voltage conditions

We studied chemical stability of atomic layer deposition-grown Al 2 O 3 artificial solid electrolyte interphases (SEIs) on lithium and sodium upon contact with liquid by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in the case Li also x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Both methods show that formed is porous for all nominal thicknesses, natural SEI grows its pores cracks. EIS shows porosity Na higher than one observed Li, particular at thicknesses . The values activation energies related to transport through indicate either a denser and/or considerable space charge effect between phase.
